Henry Wileman Backstamps


1850s

Thought to be Henry Wileman. Found on one shard only

1860s
Backstamp known on a few pieces of 'blue and white' transfer printed wares.

 
James Wileman Backstamps
   
1870s
James Wileman used the pattern name, or sometimes the shape name, in his backstamps. Those shown above are just examples. The backstamp always contains the JF Wileman name.

1872 - 1890

This backstamp can also be found with 'ENGLAND' and with 'Made in England' added.


1880s

This undocumented backstamp has been found on a few items, probably coincidently all the items have a registration diamond for 1883.

1890 - 1910
This backstamp can also be found with 'The Foley China' above. The backstamp can also be found on earthenware incorporating the name of the range.

1910 - 1916
On earthenware, this backstamp can be found with a pattern name incorporated.


1910 - 1945
This backstamp was only used on heraldic miniatures. The number is a shape number and will change according to the item.


1912 - 1925
On earthenware, this backstamp can be found with a pattern name incorporated.

1913 - 1926
Not documented in the pattern books, the dates have been estimated from known pieces.

1925 - 1945
This backstamp can be found with a pattern name incorporated.

1930 - 1932
Only found on china, this backstamp was also applied to miniatures in the 1950s.

1936 - 1937
This backstamp was only used on commemorative items.

1945 - 1966
This backstamp can be found with a pattern name incorporated.

 

Other Backstamps

1918 - 1926
Found only on 'Bryta' nursery ware range. The decoration will change according to the pattern on the piece.



Early 1960s
Found with a limited number of patterns produced for the Canadian Cookware Company.




1920s & 1930s
Shelley used a small number of backstamps incorporating the individual pattern names.
